The Israeli Coastal and Marine Engineering Research Institute (CAMERI) was established in 1976 by a group of pioneers including academic professors, engineers, technicians, and scientists. Owned by the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and The Israel Ports Development & Assets Company Ltd. (IPC), it is the leading research institute in Israel dedicated to physical oceanography modeling and research. The sea has become an area of development for the Israeli government and thus the need for CAMERI’s services are growing. As the only institute of its kind in Israel, CAMERI is excited about the prospect of working with clients to ensure a sustainable future in marine development.
CAMERI believes that one way to grow the marine and coastal engineering field in Israel is by innovation. In addition to being the Innovation Branch for IPC (add link here to IPC innovation page), CAMERI is a part of multiple innovative research projects and also works with technology companies to develop and test technologies. Using our wave flume, CAMERI can test technologies which generate electricity from water waves, nature-based solutions for shoreline protections, and other technologies in the marine sector.
